Old Bahamian Glamour and Laid-Back Resort Romance at The Potlatch Club

We decided on a spring palette of pinks, blues, and ivories, along with small touches of yellow and bronzy tones.

When we came to the Potlatch for the first time, we instantly knew it was where we would get married. The vibe of the resort was so “us”. Laid back and classic, I wanted the vibe to be reminiscent of our childhood memories. Old Bahamian glamour. We chose to do a buyout of the hotel for 3 nights, and it was perfect. Our guests had the full run of The Potlatch Club, and the service was impeccable

Gonzalo and I met initially through work. But sometime after I pulled a runaway bride, my boss at the time invited me on his annual summer vacation to get away from the chaos I created in my life. Although we had known each other for about 8 years professionally, we had never had a personal conversation. So, when we unknowingly boarded the same flight for the group trip, we instantly bonded on so many things, and by the time we landed, we were both smitten. The rest is history. Truth be told, Gonzalo never actually got down on one knee to propose. Every few years that we were together, there was a diamond ring under the Christmas tree, and as I would open the box, I would ask, “What’s this for?” and he would just say, “It’s for you”. It became a game of cat and mouse that we played for 12 years, and when I opened the 4th ring, I finally gave in, and instead of asking what it was for, I simply said “Yes”.

Sexy and Tropical. I chose my gown specifically because it had very small details that reminded me of the ocean, bubbles and netting. Very subtle and unintentional but the perfect combination of glamourous and appropriate for a beach wedding.

We didn’t have traditional Bridesmaids, but my stepdaughter wore a simple & sleek pastel yellow dress to complement her father’s and brother’s linen suits.

The groomsmen wore custom-made by Pepi Bertini, Sand colored linen suit.

We wanted our menu to be an experience that felt effortlessly elevated and for every guest to feel that very moment the instant they sat down, so the menu became a sensory postcard from the island itself. Featuring locally grown & caught ingredients and plated with the same balance of restraint and indulgence seen in our décor.

The flowers were soft, yet a colorful palette for the spring. And the decor was set to play off of that old British colonial style.

The pastry team dreamed up a design that would echo both the glittering, laid-back elegance of the Potlatch Club and little love notes to the islands. The cake tells a story of “island chic meets refined romance.”

Gonzalo walked into ‘For the Love of Money’ by the O’Jays.

We may not be Bahamian by blood, but I was raised in the Bahamas, so Junkanoo and conch salad were an absolute MUST!!

For the fun element, when Gonzalo came out as Marshmello, the DJ. On the emotional side, the kids’ speeches.

We hosted our Welcome party the night before at Tippy’s, a beachfront local restaurant that we love and always visit when in Eleuthera. Guests were treated to a Bahama Mama cocktail on arrival, and the food was fresh off the grill and included locally caught fish and Bahamian staples, such as conch fritters. We were able to watch the beautiful sunset whilst surrounded by our closest friends.
